Bakaitis is a 2022 Visiting Scholar at the University of Victoria’s Transgender Archives, and a member of the 2021 Library Freedom Project cohort. They are a 2020 recipient of a travel grant from Duke University's Sallie Bingham Center, a Carnegie-Whitney grant from the American Library Association, and honorary awardee of the Schlesinger Library Oral History Grant from Harvard University.
